I hesitate to recommend it for 2, but the game is just so damn fun I hate not listing it. Monaco - fast and frenetic pixel art heist game.

Side note I own the sequel, but haven't gotten a chance to play it. Pretty much just Tomb Raider in name only and Lara's er, assets, are really toned down in this one in case you're put off by other Tomb Raider titles.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light - 3rd person action game with a heavy emphasis on puzzles. It's one of those games that can be played single player, but co-op enhances the experience exponentially. Hammerwatch - a pixel art Gauntlet (clone? inspired by?). Enjoyed it quite a bit, but there was a terrible difficulty spike in the later levels. It's hard to describe the game briefly, but I guess the important thing to note is its a really difficult and challenging rogue-lite game that has become one of my all time favorites.įORCED - 3rd person action, puzzle based game. So while it is light on story there is quite a bit of lore to be dug out, if that makes sense.

I am in the same boat with the er outdated comp and preference for co-op PC titles so I heard some RPGs like Neverwinter Nights do that ? Other than that I thought about overcooked because it seems to have a really interesting approach of coop, so maybe some puzzle-ish games like that could work as well (also thought Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes). A game that has online coop for a campaign and has good story would be great, but yeah, that's probably pretty rare. Thought about looking for metroidvania types, but they rarely do online coop (unless you go through some Nvidia thing, but that sounds like a pain and aparently means streaming the game, and I doubt I have the connection for that). Trine games seem like something that'd work, maybe ? I guess some action games that aren't brutally hard or too complex would an option. I guess one obvious answer is MMOs, but that sounds like a lot more involvement than either of us is willing to have and lots of busywork, to be honest. Ideally, I'd like to find games that aren't too expensive (so that it's no big deal if it doesn't work), not AAA (because while I now have a halfway decent computer, I don't think it quite qualifies as a gaming computer) and gettable on steam if possible cause of the sales right now. Apparently, Overcooked 2 supports it, and that looks pretty interesting, so that might be worth a try. Now, while competitive games are plenty in online play, coop games, not so much, it seems. So coop seems like the best option, and I haven't played coop games in ages so that'd be nice. See she's not much of a gamer (she tried FPS but says she couldn't work out the concept of moving with the keyboard while looking around with the mouse and has to stop to look around), and I don't think she'll be into gitting gud at a game, so I don't think competitive games that rely on reflex are what we're looking for, here (and I'm not playing card games online).

Question is what game to pick as there are various factors. So an old friend and I are thinking playing some games together, online because she's like on another continent.
